Google Postmaster Tool (GPT)

How can I use Google Postmaster Tools (GPT) to manage domain reputation with Gmail?

Google Postmaster Tools is a free dashboard from Google that shows how Gmail views your sending domain and IPs. Once you verify your domain via DNS, you can track spam complaints, authentication, encryption, and domain/IP reputation. If your reputation is “High” or “Medium,” messages are usually delivered to inboxes. If it’s “Low” or “Bad,” Gmail may route mail to spam.

What setup do I need before using GPT?

To get accurate reputation data, your email must be properly authenticated. That means:

  • SPF: Your sending servers are authorized.
  • DKIM: Messages are signed and validated.
  • DMARC: Ensures alignment between SPF/DKIM and your sending domain, plus reporting.

Without all three in place, Gmail cannot reliably link your messages to your domain, and GPT data may be incomplete.

If using Sensorpro, you will already have this setup after following the guide sensorpro.net/auth

What should I do if my reputation is marked “Bad”?

Start by reviewing your sending practices: only mail opted-in subscribers, remove unengaged users, and fix high bounce or complaint rates. Double-check that SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are passing consistently. A spam complaint rate of more than 1% can cause a reputation to be flagged as bad, even from a single campaign.

If your reputation doesn’t improve after these corrections, you can escalate by submitting the form below.
