Naming Conventions

Effective Naming Conventions for Email Campaigns

Why Naming Conventions Matter:
Proper naming conventions streamline the organization and retrieval of your campaigns, emails, and segments, ensuring efficiency and clarity.

Campaign Naming Convention:
Format: YEAR/MONTH/CATEGORY/NUMBER
Example: 2021-FEB-PROMO-1
This structure facilitates chronological sorting and easy identification of campaign themes.

Email Naming Convention:
Format: YEAR-THEME-SEQUENCE
Example: 2021-OFFERS-2
Reflects the email's content, aiding in identifying and repurposing templates.

Segment Naming Convention:
Format: YEAR/MONTH/CATEGORY/CRITERIA/SEQUENCE
Example: 2021-FEB-PROMO-CLICKS-1
Clarifies the segmentation criteria, enabling quick comprehension of the target audience.

Implement these conventions to enhance the manageability and effectiveness of your email marketing efforts.

Warning: When using the Google Analytics option on a campaign, the Campaign name and Segment name are added to the utm parms. Make sure the name does not contain a quote (') or ampersand (&) as this will break the link in some browsers.
